Why I built Kontestia
I've spent six years building software for companies in Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, the US and other countries. Along the way I had to architect interoperability between systems that were never designed to talk to each other — Laravel sending data to SQL Server, WordPress syncing with a .NET CRM, Power Automate flows tying it all together. The conclusion was always the same: LATAM SMBs spend thousands of hours a month duct-taping solutions that a well-built product could solve in five minutes.
The trigger for Kontestia was specific: watching real business owners — the dental clinic with 800 patients, the restaurant tracking bookings in a notebook, the real-estate office losing leads because no one replies at night — using WhatsApp as their main channel and losing customers simply because they couldn't reply in time. The chatbots out there were either too expensive (BSPs charging like a US agency) or too dumb (rigid 2015-era decision trees).
Kontestia is what I built when I got tired of the binary choice between "pay $200/mo for enterprise software you don't need" or "install a free plugin that breaks on the first slightly human conversation". An AI assistant that understands your customer, books on its own, and hands the chat to a human when needed — without you having to code anything or hire an agency.
The non-obvious decisions
- Pricing in USD but payable in local currency in each country. We charge what's fair to sustain the product, not the maximum the market tolerates.
- 14 days free, no credit card. If your business needs two weeks to validate whether Kontestia fits, that's fine — the product should convince you, not lock-in.
- Zero empty AI promises. The bot doesn't solve everything. When it doesn't know, it escalates to a human. What matters is that the owner doesn't lose the customer.
- Built in LATAM, for LATAM. Spanish support from people who get the context, not chatbots from a Filipino call center.
What's next
We started with WhatsApp because that's where the conversations that matter happen in LATAM.
